Well Woven Creator Spotlight: Jess Andretta of Avelyn Lane

Probably one of the only modern farmhouse homes in South Florida belongs to Jess Andretta of Avelyn Lane. Beyond her unique home decor style, we were drawn to Jess because of her goal to make the best home possible for her husband and children. Even the name of her business, Avelyn Lane, is a combination of her daughters’ names Avery & Rilynn. Like Well Woven, she lets her creativity flourish but instead of rugs she fuels her passion into DIY projects and her wall-art business. We are so excited to feature Jess as she is the perfect example of what #livewellwoven represents. Read below to see where she gets inspiration from and how she uses Well Woven rugs in her home.

What's your favorite room/space in your home right now?

My current favorite room has got to be our office/guest room/kiddo space. It is a recent refresh and it’s the perfect space for my kids and I to just let our creative freedoms fly!

I love all your prints! Do you have a favorite that you’ve made?

It’s hard to pick just one favorite print but I can for sure pick a favorite category---my figure line drawings. There is something so raw and real about the human form and I just love interpreting it in a simple way.

What are you inspired by?

I am inspired by everything I see, hear, touch, and emotionally feel. I’m an intuitive person that goes by my gut and when inspiration hits it hits me like a ton of bricks. Of course my daily inspiration comes from those that I love dearly.

You’re a big DIY-er, what’s your favorite thing to make/renovate? Any hacks you want to share?

I love to DIY our walls using the shiplap from Home Depot. It’s easy, it’s primed, and it’s already got the space built-in. Plus it’s a way for me to sneak some more white into our spaces without throwing my husband totally over the edge! The other favorite I’ve done is creating lighting from thrifted items. I’ll be doing a DIY tutorial soon but making a drop light using a simple, everyday item like a basket from Goodwill instantly adds interest to a space, not to mention a killer shadow pattern!

Did you always imagine yourself having the style of home that you have now?

My style has changed numerous times throughout my home decor journey. When I was younger I would paint pictures directly on the wall and use metallic gold and multiple colors. When I was in my 20’s I was all about the tans and browns, and now I’m all about the simple styling of black and white where adding pops of color and texture is super easy to do. In the beginning, I don’t think I would have envisioned the style that I have now but I love where the décor world has led me and I wouldn’t change a thing!

You were a customer before we partnered with you! How did you hear about Well Woven?

I first heard about you through an amazing Instagrammer Erin @cottonstem [Read Erin’s feature article here]. When she tugged and pulled on her Well Woven rugs to show their quality and when she demonstrated zero fear when her kids played nail salon or just plain acting as kids I KNEW these rugs were what I needed for my home. Fast forward to today, I currently own 2 Well Woven rugs but of course I’ve already got my eyes on a few more!

What was on your checklist when you were looking for a rug? Did your Well Woven rugs check all those boxes?

I used to just base my decision on looks and never thought about the durability and ease of cleaning. That was a dumb move on my part because I never realized I could have had the best of both worlds; a kick-butt rug design AND the durability that I need in a home with 2 young kids, a gentle giant of a bull mastiff dog, and a husband.The rugs I have chosen from Well Woven are by far the best rug decisions I have ever made. I don’t think I could ever go to another company for my rug needs. And I’m not just saying that! I used to sell rugs, I know! I had a collection of beautiful vintage rugs and I knew the sources. The ease of working with Well Woven has far surpassed any other company that I have worked with, bought from, or sourced. By far!

What is your favorite thing about your Well Woven rugs?

All of my rugs are so comfy cozy on the toes. That was the first thing my youngest said when I rolled out my first Well Woven rug. “Mom, this rug is so soft! I love it so much more than the other one.” The comfort of my family is a priority for me so if they are happy, I am happy.

What does #livewellwoven mean to you?

#livewellwoven means I am living my best life with those that I love around me without worrying about if they are comfortable and without worrying about the messes that come with making memories. We live in our home and with that comes the sprinkling of food, spilling of juices, and creations of art.
