Halloween is just around the corner. Although the day might look a little different for your family this year, there are still plenty of ways you can celebrate and get in the spirit of all things spooky while staying safe and at home.

Prep for the Treats
What’s Halloween without a few yummy snacks? Whether you’ll be munching on something sweet or savory, there’s bound to be a gooey mess by the end of the night. Get ahead of the cleanup and create a dedicated space for those late night indulgences. Roll out a machine washable rug to cover all your bases (and floors) or create a candy display station to show off all your chocolate and gummy worms! If you want to go above and beyond, Rebecca P. has some fun ghost- and witch-themed printables you can use to accessorize your goodies.
Get Your Costume in Order
So, trick-or-treating may not be super popular this year but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun and get into character for a night or two (or—if you’re Halloween fanatics like us—three). Simply wear something different around the house to change things up for a day or host your own costume party with friends over the web for a little fun and excitement.
Need some last-minute costume ideas? 
Chrissy C.’s daughter shows us that a pointy black hat and a matching black shirt can easily portray those witchy vibes you’ve always wanted to show off. Add playful spider wall accessories and our coordinating Ratu Rug to any space and you have one bewitched photo shoot backdrop in no time!
For their son's first Halloween, our Studio Manager Justin C.'s family went for a classic Pokémon theme. Their Jurassic Park costumes of a later year were just as enjoyable!
Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!
Whether you carve, roast, arrange or paint them, pumpkins are a staple of Halloween and the opportunities with them are endless!
For those who have a little more time and creativity to spare, we've been eyeing these unique DIYs from Oh Joy! on different ways to colorfully paint your pumpkins and A Beautiful Mess' alcohol-ink pumpkin instructables.
If you’re looking for something on the simpler side, try incorporating pumpkins and other gourds in the focal areas of your home (front steps, mantels, dining room centerpieces).
Using different varieties, Jess G. sprinkled pumpkins in her fireplace and living room built-ins to create a cozy fall look around the Chiara Beige Rug.
For another approach, Erin K. used hers on the family’s dining table to complement the earthy hues of her Bingley Rug and the space’s warm, wood tones. (As a mindful parent of children with food allergies, she also included them outdoors on her porch as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project.)
Plan a Halloween Movie Marathon
If pumpkins are essential, scary movies are the next on the list of our favorite Halloween traditions. Grab your popcorn and sit yourself down for a spine-tingling thriller this Saturday. Some of our team's favorites include the classic Dracula and the newer family-friendly release, The Witches.
Feeling up for a challenge? Start the day early and squeeze in a whole movie marathon if you can. Ghostbusters, Halloweentown and the Halloween franchises all make for a good afternoon on the couch.
